The Kashmir Great Lakes Trek is a 75-km high-altitude adventure that takes you through seven surreal alpine lakes, flower-carpeted valleys, and rugged mountain passes. Detailed Day-Wise Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Srinagar → Transfer to Sonamarg (2,740m) :

  • Arrive in Srinagar; drive to Sonamarg (3 hours) through Sindh Valley.
  • Check into a guesthouse; gear check and briefing with your trek leader.
  • Overnight stay in Sonamarg.

Day 2: Sonamarg to Shekdur (3,200m) | 3-4 hours trek :

  • Start trekking along the Sindh River through pine forests.
  • Gradual ascent to Shekdur, the first campsite.
  • Enjoy views of Sonamarg Valley.

Day 3: Shekdur to Nichnai (3,500m) | 6-7 hours trek :

  • Cross Shekdur Meadows and ascend to Nichnai Pass (3,700m).
  • Descend to Nichnai Valley, a lush campsite surrounded by peaks.

Day 4: Nichnai to Vishansar Lake (3,710m) | 6-7 hours trek :

  • Climb steeply to Nichnai Pass (4,150m), the first high-altitude pass.
  • Descend to the twin lakes: Vishansar and Krishansar.
  • Camp beside Vishansar Lake under starlit skies.

Day 5: Vishansar to Gadsar Lake (3,800m) via Gadsar Pass (4,200m) | 7-8 hours trek :

  • Trek to Gadsar Pass, the highest point of the trek, offering panoramic views.
  • Descend to Gadsar Lake, known as the “Lake of Flowers” for its vibrant blooms.
  • Spot nomadic Gujjar shepherds en route.

Day 6: Gadsar to Satsar Lakes (3,600m) | 6-7 hours trek :

  • Traverse rugged terrain and rolling meadows to reach the Satsar Lakes (seven interconnected lakes).
  • Camp near the lakes with views of the Kolahoi Glacier.

Day 7: Satsar to Gangabal Twin Lakes (3,570m) | 6-7 hours trek :

  • Cross the Zajibal Pass (4,100m) and descend to Nundkol Lake.
  • Camp at Gangabal Lake, sacred to Kashmiri Hindus, with Mount Harmukh towering above.

Day 8: Gangabal to Naranag (2,300m) → Drive to Srinagar :

  • Final descent through pine forests to Naranag.

  • Overnight stay in Srinagar.

Day 9: Departure from Srinagar :

  • Transfer to Srinagar Airport; depart with memories of Kashmir’s untamed beauty.
